Veterans Day at Ola School

At Ola School we celebrated Veterans Day by making some red, white, and blue flags out of paper and gluing a silhouette in the middle of the flag. The sholette was a military statue looking up, or a bald eagle. Then we glued the flag on to either blue, or red pieces of paper. We then hung the artwork on the art wall. We also invited some visitors to talk with us. On Thursday, November 8th we invited Mr. Stevens on skype. We invited him to video call with us and we asked him many questions about working in the Army. He answered many of our questions and we learned a lot. We learned that he flew helicopters. We then thanked him and and ended the call. Then, on Friday November 9th, we invited Mr. Houghtaling to our school for a live meeting. He decided that he would stay the whole school day with us. We began by asking him multiple questions and him answering us. We asked him how long he served and he said ever since he was 17 years old. Then he stayed with us and learned how we do things here at Ola School. He gave the 5th grade a spelling test and he did a wonderful job. Then we went out for P.E. We played capture the flag. At the end of the day we said goodbye and thanked Mr. Houghtaling and got on the bus.
